This Walking Tour is in and out of our very comfortable van, featuring 6 stops of incredible beauty along our coastline, and culminates with an exquisite Afternoon Tea at The Teahouse at Abkhazi Garden, the former residence of the Prince and Princess Abkhazi. This is a hidden jewel nestled within a quaint and quiet neighbourhood.
Pick up from your hotel is 8:30 a.m. Our first walking tour stop is only 7 minutes from downtown hotels - stroll along a breakwater that goes out to the ocean almost 0.5 km - we may see seals, sea lions, otters, jellyfish, or even an octopus! Close by is a a beautiful park with massive Sequoia Trees - a short walk takes us to the amazing "Moss Lady" (see gallery photos), a nesting area for Great Pacific Blue Herons, and the Resident Eagle's Nest - peacocks are everywhere too...our next walking tour stop brings us to a lovely rock beach with lots of driftwood - a very large piece has some great native carvings in it. A few minutes away you'll walk on a stunning crescent beach out onto a peninsula - sit in the blue and red deck chairs on the edge of the sea and take in the vistas of water, islands and mountains! The next walking tour stop is a jewel unknown even to many locals - a short walk up a slight rise provides what could be considered the best views in the 13 municipalities that make up Greater Victoria. You will see Trial Island, Mount Baker (a 3,300 meter/11,000 foot somewhat active volcano), the Juan De Fuca Strait, and the snow capped Olympic Mountains. We’ll throw in a dash of Vancouver Island’s fascinating history along the way. Our 6th walking tour stop offers the best sea level views of Mount Baker in greater Victoria, along with the Olympic Mountains to the south. There are many places to walk and explore, and there's a decent chance of seeing wildlife. When the tide is out, the shoreline is even more incredible!
The last Tour Stop is The Teahouse at Abkhazi Garden, which offers exceptional food in a wonderfully tranquil setting, giving you a special memory to cherish. You have a choice of Teas (including a special blend made for Abkhazi Garden), freshly prepared scones, sandwiches, savouries, and a sampling of outstanding desserts. The Garden setting of local and exotic plants is visited by Horticulturalists from around the world - it is so delightful! You will receive a brochure to assist you in your own Walking Tour of this wonderful Private Garden - there will be ample time for this, which caps off a Fantastic Walking Tour!
